Oussmalieh Shrimps Recipe

The ultimate appetizer, simply a must try! Fried shrimps rolled with Al Wadi Al Akhdar Oussmalieh/Kadaif pastry and lusciously served with cocktail sauce.


  • 1 pack Al Wadi Al Akhdar Oussmalieh Pastry, thawed
  • 10 pieces’ large size shrimps, cleaned
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 Tbsp (30 g) Sesame Oil
  • 2 Tbsp (30 g) Teriyaki sauce
  • 1 cup (200 g) flour
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Step 1

Marinate the shrimps with the lemon juice, zest, sesame oil and teriyaki sauce. Marinate inside the fridge for at least 30 mins.

Step 2

Cut strands of Ousmallieh Pastry.

Step 3

Place shrimps into flour then dip into egg mixture.

Step 4

Roll and wrap each shrimp leaving the tails unwrapped and press the pastry tightly to avoid pastry unrolling.

Step 5

Deep fry the shrimps until golden brown.

Step 6

Serve hot with Cocktail sauce.
