Apple Hand Pies2017-01-11

- 1 pack Al Wadi Al Akhdar Shortcrust Pastry, thawed
- 3 apples, peeled, cored and cut into small cubes
- 1 Tbsp (15 g) sugar
- 1 tsp (3 g) ground cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp (30 g) Al Wadi Al Akhdar Butter
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
Roll out the pastry and cut into 16 even size rectangular pieces.
Heat a large saucepan over medium heat and add the butter, sugar and cinnamon. Stir well and add the apples. Cook until the apples are just mushy, about 10 mins. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside to cool.
Preheat oven to 180C.
Once the apples have cooled, spread the mixture into 8 pcs of the pie crusts. Top each pie with a piece of the remaining crusts. Brush the edges with egg wash and crimp using a fork. Make three to four slits across the tops of the pies.
Bake for 20-30 mins or until golden brown.
