Quick and Healthy Winter Beverages

When it’s cold and stormy outside, there’s only one thing to do: stay in and wrap yourself up in a cozy blanket with a hot drink in hand. Instead of sticking to coffee and black tea, broaden your horizons and enjoy the taste and benefits of these beverages.

The traditional beverage-dessert is a favorite in the Middle East, especially in Lebanon. It can be instantly prepared with Al Wadi Al Akhdar Sahlab mix. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon powder on top, and enjoy them with some plain biscuits (kaak).

Natural Tea
Make your own tea from nutritious plants you can find at the supermarket. For example, get some ginger root, thinly slice about 30 grams in hot water, and add a lemon slice. If you’ve had ginger before, you know it’s got quite a strong, spicy taste, so you can sweeten it with Al Wadi Al Akhdar Pure Honey.
Another delicious tea you can make is with 2 lemon peels, 1 teaspoon sage, and ½ teaspoon thyme. Pour hot water over them and let them simmer for about 15 minutes. Then strain the tea, removing the peels and leaves, and add ¼ cup of lemon juice and a tablespoon of honey. This mix is not only tasty; it’s also good for a sore throat.

White Coffee
When you don’t want to have regular caffeinated coffee, white coffee, also known as Kahweh Baida in Arabic or Café Blanc in French, is an excellent substitute that can soothe you and calm your stomach at the end of a long day. Making it is incredibly easy. All you have to do is boil 2 cups of water, add 2 teaspoons of Al Wadi Al Akhdar All Natural Orange Blossom Water, and 2 teaspoons sugar.

Hot Cocoa
Make your own hot cocoa using dark chocolate for its health benefits. Get one cup whole milk and about 50 g dark chocolate (or as much as you desire). Heat the milk for 3 to 4 minutes until it’s just about to boil, then put the dark chocolate and stir until it’s melted. You can also add as much brown sugar or honey as you like to sweeten it, and stir in some ground cinnamon at the end.

Apple Cider Vinegar Brew
This brew is great not just to warm you, but also to relieve you of the flu. To make it, boil ¼ cup water, then pour it over ¼ cup Al Wadi Al Akhdar apple cider vinegar, and add a tablespoon of cayenne pepper and Al Wadi Al Akhdar honey. Add a squeeze of lemon into the mix, and enjoy!
